History & Legend

More than 1,300 years ago, a white stork landed here and soaked its injured leg in the warm spring water. After several days, the wound healed completely, and the bird flew away gracefully.

Local villagers witnessed this and believed it was a divine sign. They began using the hot spring, and from that moment, the story of Kinosaki Onsen began.

Because of this legend, the stork remains a symbol of health, peace, and renewal throughout the town.
